Crossover Cables
|
Video Data Sheet
Learn Cisco Crossover Cables allow two or more Cisco routers to be connected in
back-to-back fashion.
|
Diablo Cable stocks stocks many types and lengths of the
serial crossover cable for Cisco. The Cisco crossover cable is most often used as a dte dce cable for
connecting routers like Cisco back to back. These compatible Cisco dte dce cable offerings are in stock in our
California warehouse and are available for same day shipping. These are premium compatible crossover cables
with nicely molded connectors which are labelled either DTE or DCE for easy identification. |
Cisco Cable Descriptions
 |
These are the older style Cisco serial cables. At the router end of the cable is the older style LFH60 pin Connector. You'll find this connector on router modules including the WIC-1T, NM-4T, NM-4A/S and some older style router modules like the Cisco 2500 series. |

Smart Serial cables were developed by Cisco to support higher density connections. You'll find these Smart Serial connections on newer Cisco modules including WIC-2T, WIC-2A/S, HWIC-2T, HWIC-2A/S and many other newer style Network Modules supporting the higher density Smart Serial Connections. |

Crossover cables were developed for two primary reasons. First, these cables are great for connecting two routers together in a back-to-back configuration for production and training environments. Second, it was formerly popular to use two regular serial cables like a V35FC and V35MT and link these cable together in order to obtain what a single crossover cable can accomplish without all the cable waste. |

Octal cables are used to connect multiple serial devices to a router or access server. Generally, a high-density plug is broken out into eight cables. Sometimes referred to as the octopus cable, these are used in conjunction with Cisco modules like the NM-16A/S, NM-32A and other situations calling for an octal breakout cable |

There are a number of uncommon fiber optic patch cords that Cisco customers often need. These cables have connector styles including LC, SC, MTRJ, ST, FC and more. Many cables were orignially only available in specific lengths. The list found here includes not only these hard-to-find connector style, but also an expanded list of available lengths to help meet the demands of todays complex datacenters. |

Many Cisco cables don't fit into standard categories even though they of great importance. Proprietery type cables including console cables, E1, DSU, and USB are found here. |

There are numerous options for connecting fiber to Cisco devices. These devices are called optical transceivers. They perform exceptionally with all Cisco switches and mate up perfectly with our fiber optic options. We offer modules for short and long-haul situations. |

Frame Relay Simulation
| CAB-SS-6026X |
|
Use this Crossover Cable Guide to help determine which Crossover Cables are right for your environment.
Our CAB-SS-6026X cables are widely used to simulate frame relay environments in the absence of a frame relay switch. These cables feature premium connectors for a secure fit and strain relief to ensure integrity even after dozens of moves. The great part about our CAB-SS-6026X is that it replaces two cables (CAB-SS-V35MT and CAB-V35FC) for connecting routers in a back to back configuration. You acheive the same result and you don't have an extra 20 feet of cable hanging around.
You can establish a basic frame relay environment using the following commands:
Older Style WIC-1T DTE Side:
Router #1
interface Serial0
ip address 192.168.1.50 255.255.255.0
encapsulation frame-relay
frame-relay interface-dlci 502
Newer Style WIC-2T Smart Serial DCE Side:
Router #2
interface Serial1
ip address 192.168.1.51 255.255.255.0
encapsulation frame-relay
clockrate 64000
frame-relay interface-dlci 502
frame-relay intf-type dce
We offer these cables in many lengths from 1FT to 20FT. Here are the part numbers for this cable in different lengths:
CAB-SS-6026X-1
CAB-SS-6026X-2
CAB-SS-6026X-3
CAB-SS-6026X-6

| CAB-SS-2660X |
|
Our CAB-SS-2660X cables are commonly used when a dedicated frame relay environment is required. This cable has the DCE clocking on the LFH60 serial end and the DTE clocking on the smart serial side. Engineers and students use the cable when they have one of the following:
2500 Series router including the 2520, 2521 and 2522 or
Any router with a WIC-1T, NM-4T, NM-4A/S and NM-8A/S
The opposite end of the cable (the DTE Smart Serial end) will then be used to connect to a router with a WIC-2T, WIC-2A/S, NM-16A or NM-32A.
We offer the CAB-SS-2660X in lengths ranging from 1FT to 20FT. You may find these cables using the following part numbers:
CAB-SS-2660X-1
CAB-SS-2660X-2
CAB-SS-2660X-3
CAB-SS-2660X-6
CAB-SS-2660X-10

| CAB-SS-2626X |
|
Use the CAB-SS-2626X cable to connect two routers together in back to back configuration to emulate frame relay when using a WIC-2T, WIC-2A/S, NM-16A or NM-32A interface card or module. The CAB-SS-2626X cable is a basic Smart Serial to Smart Serial cable used to replace using two cables in the lab environment (the CAB-SS-V35MT and CAB-SS-V35FC). Save yourself up to 20FT of unecessary cable in your network or lab environment by choosing from these custom back-to-back cables in the following lengths:
CAB-SS-2626X-1
CAB-SS-2626X-2
CAB-SS-2626X-3
CAB-SS-2626X-6
CAB-SS-2626X-10

| CAB-HD60MMX |
|
Use the CAB-HD60MMX cable to connect two routers together in back to back configuration to emulate frame relay when using a WIC-1T, NM-4A/S or NM-32A/S interface card or module. The Cisco 2500 series routers including the 2520, 2521, and 2522 have native LFH60 ports on the router as well and may use this cable. The CAB-HD60MMX cable is a basic serial to serial cable used to replace using two cables in the lab environment (the CAB-V35MT and CAB-V35FC). Save yourself up to 20FT of unecessary cable in your network or lab environment by choosing from these custom back-to-back cables in the following lengths:
CAB-HD60MMX-1
